MEISSEN. Large polychrome and gold porcelain group depicting an allegory of the Arts in the form of a young man standing with his left leg resting on a stele, holding a flute in his right hand. He is dressed in a green drapery, with a seated young woman at his side, wearing a white blouse with gold buttons and a pink skirt, playing a lyre. The terrace is adorned with symbolic attributes: sheet music, a mallet, a bas-relief portrait of a man and laurel branches. The rim is embellished with gold foliage in relief and bears an inscription: ARS. Mark with crossed swords in blue, striped with a wheel and recessed numerals R 199. 19th century.
