Publication: P. Clayton, Mougins Museum of Classical Art, 2011, p. 48, fig. 27. The Mougins Museum of Classical Art is deaccessioning a number of items in the museum collection, all of which are high-quality items and most of which are published in the museum catalogue. However, many new antiquities and artworks have been added to the museum since it opened in May 2011 and it is important to continue to make the displays look dynamic, informative, educational and attractive to its visitors. As new pieces get added, it is now time to rotate some artworks too, and rather than put additional items into our storage facility for an indefinite period of time, we would rather deaccession in order to allow other collectors and curators the ability to study these truly wonderful objects and get great pleasure from them, just as we have at MACM. While we have deaccessioned lesser items from storage in the past, for exactly the same reason, this is the first time that we have deaccessioned pieces from the museum itself, they are all fantastic museum-quality objects. We hope that these works will delight collectors or enrich the collections of other museums. Christian Clive Levett
