Les masques du gyè, associant au visage humain des attributs propres au monde animal, sont les plus celebres des masques Yaure. Ainsi, dans un geste sculptural superbement maitrise l'artiste prolonge ici le visage delicat par deux elegantes et longues cornes.
L'equilibre parfait du jeu de lignes est accentue par le contraste entre le minimalisme des traits et la richesse des attributs delicatement sculptes auquel repond le tres grand raffinement de son execution, portant a son apogee une esthetique dont on sait qu'elle influenca l'art des Baule voisins.
The gyè masks which blend the human face with attributes from the animal realm are the most famous of the Yaure masks. Here, in a superbly mastered sculptural gesture, the artist lengthens a delicate face with two elegant horns.The perfect balance of lines within the mask is accentuated by the contrast between the minimalism of the features and the richness of the sculpted attributes. The refinement of its execution represents the pinnacle of this aesthetic, an aesthetic which influenced the art of the neighbouring Baule.
