Le lieutenant Aimé de FLEURIAU (1785-1862) lui a remis la lettre de son correspondant, le capitaine de frégate Regny, « ... the object of which has been rendered unnecessary... by the embarcation of Napoleon on board one of H. B. M. Ships ; in which he sailed for England on the 16th. And as Mr Croker informs me he has communicated to the British Government the purpost of the letter you took charge of, there will be no occasion to send another ship to England on that account... ». Hotham se réjouit d'avoir eu l'honneur d'accomplir les voeux des gouvernements anglais et français et complimente Regny qui, selon lui, a eu raison « ... to keep the dispatches... for the Captain of the Amphitrite, and the Commandant of Isle d'Aix. I shall deliver this into the hands of the Lieutenant Fleuriau, together with my dispatches for Mr Croker, which I be have to recommend to your care... ».
