WWW.JOHN-HOWE.COM Né en 1957 à Vancouver, John Howe est un illustrateur aujourd'hui basé en Suisse, à Neuchâtel. Il a étudié à la faculté de Strasbourg, puis à l'école des arts décoratifs. Il est avant tout connu pour ses illustrations inspirées du monde de J.R.R. Tolkien. Il a dirigé avec Alan Lee la conception artistique du Seigneur des anneaux de Peter Jackson, et a retravaillé les illustrations des cartes de Bilbo le Hobbit, du Seigneur des anneaux et de Silmarillion. Ses autres travaux consistent principalement en des illustrations de mythologies anciennes, telles que la légende anglo-saxonne Beowulf. John Howe (born August 21, 1957 in Vancouver) is living in Neuchatel, Switzerland. He studied in a college in Strasbourg, France, then at the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs. He is best known for his work based on J. R. R. Tolkien's worlds. Howe and Alan Lee were the lead artists of Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy. Howe also re-illustrated the maps of The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, and The Silmarillion. His work includes images of myths such as the Anglo Saxon legend of Beowulf.
