A silver Kiddush Cup London 1811 Maker’s... - Lot 65 - Pierre Bergé & Associés
A silver Kiddush Cup London 1811 Maker’s mark : Duncan Urquhart & Naphtäli Hart This goblet is a very fine example of English Georgian Silver. Its design is plain and linear, inspired by the elegant Neo-classical style. The upper frieze of the goblet is covered with engraved patterns of vine leaves, grapes and oak cones that evoke its function as a vessel for blessing on the wine. The Hebrew inscription mentions that the goblet was given in 1864 by the congregation of the synagogue in Hamburg, Germany to Tsvi ben Rabbi Yehudah.
