Together two works in two large volumes in-8, garnet half-maroon with corners, spines decorated, untrimmed, illustrated covers and spine preserved (Mercier sr de Cuzin). First editions. The illustration of these two beautiful publications which follow each other consists of two frontispieces reproducing the coats of arms of the provinces, one printed in gold, the other in colour, a portrait of Chateaubriand after Girodet- Trioson in the first volume, three maps with coloured outlines, 13 plates of coats of arms in colour, a plate of coins, 63 plates out of text engraved on wood or on steel and about 400 woodcut vignettes in the text, mainly after Leleu, Penguilly and Tony Johannot.
