GRANDE VILLE (La), a new comic, critical and philosophical picture of Paris philosophical... Paris, Maresq, 1844. Two large volumes in-8, half-maroquin blue with corners, spines decorated in long of rocaille irons, not trimmed, gilt head, yellow printed covers preserved (A. Devauchelle). First printing. Two ornate titles, two frontispieces, 29 figures out of text and more than 150 vignettes in the text, all woodcut after Gavarni, Victor Adam, Daumier, Daubigny, Henry Emy, Traviès, Henri Monnier... The texts are due to Paul de Kock, Balzac, Dumas, Soulié, Gozlan, Briffault, etc. Copy of the 1842-43 edition under new covers and titles renewed at the date of 1842 renewed titles at the date of 1844. This new issue is enriched compared to the first one by 12 figures out of text in volume I (and not in volume II). figures in volume I (and not 11 as Carteret erroneously indicates), as well as the two ornate titles and two frontispieces: Paris today for volume I and Le dîner est le prétexte for volume II, the whole here in first edition.
