In-12 [183 x 123] of 119 pp, (4) ff. the last 2 blank : slate grey morocco, boards and spine decorated with a continuous pattern of irregular lozenges, drawn with cold fillets, each decorated in their center with a second lozenge of grey box and of the same shape, the whole drawing a large oval shape, smooth spine, blue velvet lining and endpapers, gilt edges, cover and spine preserved, spine folder and overlapping bands of slate grey morocco, slipcase (P. L. Martin 1952). First edition put in the market, published posthumously. One of the 49 first copies on China paper (n° XXII). Beautiful mosaic by Pierre Lucien Martin. Spine slightly oiled. Weak jaws. Provenance : P.R. Mery, with ex-libris. Attached : - Hommage à André Gide. Paris, Nouvelle Revue Française, 1951. In-8 [226 x 140] of 421 pp, (1) f., 4 plates : modern red half-maroquin à la Bradel, smooth spine, untrimmed, cover and spine kept. Special issue of the Nouvelle Revue Française published in November 1951 in homage to André Gide who died on February 19 of the same year : one of the 1200 copies on vellum from Papeteries Lafuma-Navarre (n° 767). A well-bound copy, perfectly preserved.
