Cutting body and its enamel cover painted in grey with gold highlights on a dark blue background.
Cup body: background illustrating Psyche welcomed by the Gods of Olympus. The princess stands before the assembly of the Gods in clouds against a background of a radiant sun; Venus, Jupiter, a foot on a globe and an eagle by her side, Diana, Juno with her peacock and Cupid coming to surround the waist of her beloved with her arms; behind her, two naked men sitting; in the background, soldiers and a next. Lapel decorated with grimaceous masks alternating with children's heads with butterfly wings linked by garlands of fruit from which animated cartridges are hung.
Cover: decoration of four medallions in relief representing
Mars, Vulcan, Neptune and a marine Venus interspersed with great female figures in the ancient style, including two with butterfly wings accompanied by vases and trophies; inside decorated with four medallions bearing alternating female and male profiles interspersed with putti playing with ribbons, three bearing butterfly wings still in reference to the history of Psyche; important chiselled and gilded bronze grip in the shape of an antique vase with a pair of sphinxes, putti heads and acanthus leaf capital.
