Large triptych altarpiece in carved, polychrome and gilded l - Lot 80
Large triptych altarpiece in carved, polychrome and gilded lime tree, box in resinous. Central part with a curved niche housing the Coronation of the Virgin Mary in an almost round hump: in the clouds, in the centre, Mary is kneeling, opening her hands in a gesture of acceptance; she is framed by Christ and God the Father, both placing the crown on her head. On the inner shutters, in bas-relief: on the left, Saint John the Baptist, on the right, Saint John, surmounted by a foliage fleuron. Closed: external faces of the shutters, Saint Michael holding the sword and the balance of the Last Judgment, Saint Dominic accompanied by the dog of the Lord, the torch lit in his mouth, a branch of lily in his left hand; above, large flowered and leafy stems, angel heads in the spandrels; on the fixed parts on the left and right: Saint Mary Magdalene with the ointment jar and Saint Agnes, her head girded with a crown, holding a candle, a lamb at her feet; above cut leather motifs. The altarpiece is topped by a strong overhanging moulded cornice and a frieze with symmetrical foliage foliage runs. Bavaria, late 16th century Height: 137.2 cm - Closed width: 131 cm - Open width: 141 cm (slight accidents and restorations, posterior bottom, missing the Dove of the Holy Spirit which was placed above the Virgin's head)
