DE. CAVS. MIRTIILORU and MIVA. CITONIORV. SIMPL; inscriptions under the foot. Italy, Rome, 17th century Heights: 20.5 cm and 21 cm (scratches on the neck of one of them, slight enamel jumps) Originally from Gubbio, the Pamphili family moved to Rome at the end of the 15th century. The Pamphili or Pamphilj, a powerful family, have many prelates in the Roman Catholic Church from the 15th to the 17th century. The most famous of them is Giovanni Battista Pamphili who became Pope between 1644 and 1655 under the name of Innocent X. However, these coats of arms could also be those of Camillo Astalli-Pamphili (1616-1663) bishop from 1661 until his death.
