The deity is represented standing under an arcature symbolizing a roof; she carries in front of her her child with a hooded head; on either side, on the left, a dog with a collar around its neck, on the right, a circle engraved with a cross. Gallic art, Rouergue, 2nd century BC/ 2nd century AD Height: 29.5 cm - Width: 35.5 cm (some missing parts and erosion) Provenance: former private collection, in the family for several generations, Villefranche-de-Rouergue The Mother Goddesses are widespread in all regions of Gaul and are above all local deities. This one is particularly remarkable for its original and enigmatic iconography.
