MACKINTOSH (William). - Lot 104
MACKINTOSH (William). Trips in Europe, Asia and Africa... London and is in Paris, at Regnaut's house, 1786. Two volumes in-8 of XXIV, 486, (1) p., a map; VIII, 414, (1) pp., a map, contemporary marbled calf binding, decorated spines, red edges. First edition of the French translation, by Brissot de Warville. Two folding maps: India and the routes to India without passing the Cape of Good Hope. In these letters written from 1777 to 1781, mostly from Calcutta, the author paints a state of the English possessions in India. Following this is Colonel John Capper's journey to the East Indies through Egypt and the great desert and an excerpt from Sparrmann's journey to the Cape of Good Hope. Very nice copy. Ex-libris Gaston Héliot.
