CONGRÈS MONDIAL DES PARTISANS DE LA PAIX. - Lot 71
CONGRÈS MONDIAL DES PARTISANS DE LA PAIX. Delegate card. Paris, April 20-25, 1949. Membership card printed and illustrated with a dove on a green background on a strong cardboard with rounded edges (105 x 133 mm) with the name of the delegate handwritten and, on the white back, 10 autograph signatures. Card of Alice Ahrweiler, translator of Spanish, especially Pablo Neruda, and close activist of the French Communist Party. The card bears her name and country with the signature of Frédéric Joliot-Curie. On the back, nine autograph signatures including those of Picasso, Paul Éluard and Elsa Triolet. Following the latter, instead of signing, Louis Aragon inscribed "and her lover." At the instigation of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and presided over by Frédéric Joliot-Curie, then High Commissioner for Atomic Energy, the first World Congress of Supporters of Peace was held in the Salle Pleyel in Paris from 20 to 25 April 1949. It brought together 2000 delegates from 72 countries. Slightly blunt corners.
