La Pléiade. Ballads, fabliaux, news and legends. Paris, Curmer, 1842. In-8 (207 x 130 mm) of a frontispiece engraved on steel, followed by a general title and 9 excerpts, each decorated with an engraved frontispiece, 1 plate without text, 66 vignettes in the text; lemon semi-maroquin with corners, spine ribbed, gilt and mosaic compartments, gilt head (Allô). Very nice edition given by Curmer, taken from China. "The Pleiade is a volume of the highest interest, of a rare elegance. Each of the parts that make it up has been chosen from masterpieces of different literatures so that it is like a summary of the best literary pieces" (leaflet mounted at the head). It consists of 10 issues containing texts by Bürger, Hoffmann, Dickens, Emmich, Blaze, Homer, Gavarni, Tieck and other authors. The vignettes illustrating Rosemonde by Henri Blaze are all mounted. Very nice copy. Vicar, VI, 705.
