Extremely rare print of Schwabisch Hall (a town in Baden-Württemberg in Germany) of which USTC locates only 4 institutional copies (none in the United States). Beautiful collection of 3 bound books for Jacques Auguste de Thou, celibate. Magistrate, jurist and historian, Jacques-Auguste de Thou (1553-1617) was one of the most important bibliophiles of his time. Learned and encyclopedic, rich of several thousand volumes, his library was his working instrument as a historian and jurist. Nice copy.
