Horae in Laudem beatissomae virginis Mariae, ad usum Romanum. Paris, Réginald & Claude Calder, 1549. In-4 (233 x 160 mm) of 172 ff.n.ch., printed in red and black. Snack: a-y8. Title in a beautiful woodcut frame, each leaf in a decorative frame; brown calf, decorated with gold interlacing and curved fillets and painted with green, grey, and black wax, smooth spine with gilt interlacing decoration, gilt edges (contemporary binding). Beautiful edition of the great hours of Geofroy Tory. It is decorated with 14 large engravings, ? and have all the pages surrounded either by single line arabesques, or by black engraved arabesques, or by a portico-shaped frame. There are also some capital letters with a sieve background. All the wood used for the ornamentation of this beautiful volume had already been used in an edition of the same hours printed by Simon de Colines in 1543? (Brunet). The calendar covers the years 1549 to 1574. A few stains, a few leaves with restorations in white margins, the last leaf coming from another copy, right and below; restorations on the corners, caps and jaws, retouched coloured waxes. Brunet, V, 1662; Lacombe, 440 (incomplete copy of 2 ff.); missing from Mortimer.
