VAUVENARGUES, Luc Clapiers, marquis de. Introduction to the knowledge of the human mind, followed by reflections and maxims. Paris, Antoine-Claude Briasson, 1746. Nice copy; skillful restorations. Provenance: Charles de Brosses (ex-libris grave). De Brosses (1709-1777), Burgundian magistrate, was a historian, linguist, and writer. He is credited with the famous compilation of all known journeys to the southern sea (Histoire des voyages aux Terres australes), and is credited with the words "Polynesia" and "Australasia". Brunet, V, 1103. The copy of Thou
