Paul Eluard.
Choix de poèmes. Paris, Gallimard, 1941. In-12: black morocco, smooth spine decorated with cold fillets, boards entirely covered with a geometrical decoration of vertical and horizontal fillets, lining and endpapers in pearl grey box, gilt edges, cover and spine preserved, case (Semet et Plumelle). Partly first edition. One of 12 copies on China paper (ex. E), the only deluxe edition. Printed in October 1941 on the Darantière press in Dijon, the collection includes twelve unpublished poems, including Le Blason des fleurs et des fruits, which the poet had first "edited" in the form of 15 handwritten copies. A photographic portrait of the poet is mounted at the head of the book: original silver print (84 x 56 mm). Remarkable original photograph by Man Ray: one can see in the background a piece of the lips of the famous painting A l'heure de l'observatoire ou les Amoureux which was in the photographer's studio. Impeccable decorated binding by Semet et Plumelle.
