Jean-Pierre DUPREY.
Complete works. Preface by André Breton. Edition established and annotated by François Di Dio. Paris, Christian Bourgois, 1990. In-8: paperback, illustrated front cover: white box with two plexiglass plates pierced with a total of 228 steel nails on the first cover and the gutter edge (publisher's slipcase). First collective edition, partly original. One of the fifty first copies, signed by Elisa Breton and François Di Dio (nº 43), turned into a book-object with the publisher's studded box. Edited by François Di Dio who was the editor of Jean-Pierre Duprey's main collections at Soleil Noir from 1950 to 1970, illustrated by Ernst, Hérold, Matta and Toyen. The texts have been revised on the author's manuscripts owned by Jacqueline Duprey and almost a third appear here for the first time. The original model of the studded slipcase, signed by François Di Dio and justified "Projet 0000" is enclosed. The project, a block of wood covered with white paper, is studded with 180 glued nails, the one on the gutter edge being larger than the others. The box made by Atelier Duval for the first copies includes more nails, but the layout is already in place in the model. Various documents from François Di Dio, founder of the publisher Le Soleil Noir, are attached: - Photographic portrait of Jean-Pierre Duprey. Black and white silver print, mounted on black cardboard (18 x 24,3 cm). Tear. See reproduction opposite. - 2 letters to the Aubin printing house. 1977. - 2 photographs of Duprey's works published by Le Soleil Noir. - La Fin et la matière. 1965. Typescript with typographical annotations, proofs, printing order. - The Pope in Jerusalem. Bulletin n° 1. Éditions du Soleil noir. November 1964. The editor takes stock of his activity "after a (voluntary) silence of ten years, to the day" and gives the program to come. Follows the announcement of the publication of the Works of Jean-Pierre Duprey - Derrière son double, Spectreuse and La Fin et la Manière, in preparation, with a presentation of the author. - Cliché text for Forêt sacrilège.
