Poësies et Messéniennes. Ninth edition. Paris, Ladvocat, 1824. In-8, contemporary binding in purple long-grained morocco, on the boards large spandrels bound with crossed fillets and a central diamond pattern composed of rocaille irons within a frame of two gilt fillets and a cold scroll, spine decorated with gilt and cold motifs, hatched fillet decoration on the edges, inner lace, gilt edges (Vogel). Expanded edition with three new Messéniennes and several unpublished pieces. First edition illustration consisting of an engraved title with a vignette and 10 intaglio vignettes after Devéria, all printed on chine glued and protected by serpents, a vignette on the printed title and 27 wood-engraved culs-de-lampe, most of them also after Devéria. Delightful and very fine decorated binding by Vogel.
