In-8, contemporary binding in aubergine glazed calf, double framed with gilt and cold-stamped fillets with corner motifs on the boards, spine decorated throughout with rocaille and rose irons in a frame of intersecting gilt scrolls, gilt fillets inside, gilt edges (Simier R. du Roi). First edition of Charles Nodier's translation and first printing of the illustration.
