Chroniques françoises, publiées par F. Michel, suivies de recherches sur le style par Ch. Nodier. Paris, Louis Janet, s.d. (1838). Small in-8, contemporary binding in blue glazed calf, gilt fillet on the boards framing a large cold embossed decoration with angel and demon motifs and, in the centre, the title in embossed letters on a gilt-backed escutcheon, spine decorated with gold and cold embossed motifs, gilt fillets inside, gilt edges (publisher's binding). Ornate title printed in red, lettering, borders and 4 plates out of text engraved by Rouargue after Colin in historiated frames in the manner of medieval manuscripts. A very fine copy printed on vellum paper and covered at the time with an exceptional embossed binding, one of the few with the four figures as well as the title, the lettering and the ornaments very finely coloured with gold highlights, the whole very fresh. Minimal and pale freckles on a few leaves.
