Paris, Gustave Havard, 1854. Large in-8, red half-maroquin with long grain and corners, spine ribbed and decorated, untrimmed, white illustrated cover and spine preserved (Mercier sr de Cuzin). First edition. 70 wood-engraved plates coloured in watercolour after Grandville. 67 of the subjects have been reinterpreted here after the lithographs of the 1829 edition, the other three are taken from other collections of the artist. A superb copy, quoted by Carteret, bound in booklet form with its general covers in mint condition and enriched with three delivery covers. From the libraries of René Descamps-Scrive (II, 1925, n° 353), Laurent Meeus (Wittock, n° 294) and Raoul Simonson, with their bookplates.
