La Normandie, illustrée par MM. Morel-Fatio, Tellier, Gigoux, Daubigny, Debon, H. Bellangé, Alfred Johannot - La Bretagne, illustrée par MM. H. Bellangé, Gigoux, Gudin, Isabey, Morel-Fario, J. Noel, A. Rouargue, Saint-Germain, Fortin et Daubigny. Paris, Bourdin, s.d. (1843 and 1844). Together two works in two volumes large-in-8, half red morocco with corners, spines decorated, untrimmed, illustrated covers and spine preserved (Canape). First editions. Normandy is illustrated with an engraved title-frontispiece with steel vignette, two maps, a steel portrait of Corneille, 22 steel-engraved plates out of the text and about 180 woodcut vignettes in the text. La Bretagne contains a title-frontispiece decorated with a steel vignette, a map, 19 steel-engraved out-of-text figures including a portrait of Chateaubriand, 4 plates of coats of arms and 8 plates of coloured costumes and numerous wood-engraved figures in the text. Covers printed in gold and colours by Silbermann and decorated with similar coats of arms for both volumes. Made on the same model, these two works "form a rather rare first printing" (Carteret, III, p. 320). Perfect copies, with all margins. Illustrated flyers (4 pages) added, flying, for both works, plus a third one (6 pages in-12) for various works by Jules Janin.
