Large in-8, green half-maroquin with corners, spine ribbed and decorated, untrimmed, cover printed in gold with vignettes on the boards and spine preserved (Mercier sr de Cuzin). First edition. Eight coloured flower plates, each with a fine rose-coloured paper serpente bearing the printed legend, and numerous woodcut vignettes in the text or on the full page after Freeman, Marvy, Steinheil, Meissonier, Gavarni, Daubigny and Catenacci. A rare copy containing the plates in two states, coloured on white and in black on chine glue. White cover printed in gold perfectly preserved.
