Paris, Houdaille, 1839. First edition. Two bistre frontispieces, a facsimile in colours and gold and 38 plates out of text printed before the letter on chine appliqué, all with captions printed on silk paper serpents, vignettes in the text, all woodcut after Jean Gigoux. One of the two editions published in the same year, this one without the Latin text. One of the very rare copies on China paper in perfect condition.
