Jerusalem Delivered, new translation, with the life of Tasse and historical notes according to the chronicles of the crusades and the Arab historians of the 11th century, by M. A. Mazuy. Paris, Knab, 1838. In-8, contemporary binding in green chagrin, two gilt filets, bold and lean, framing the boards with large gilt rocaille motifs ending in floral irons at the corners, gilt numeral with the mention edition on chine in gilt letters in the centre of the first board, spine ribbed with gilt filets, interior roulette, gilt edges. First edition. Frontispiece and 20 wood-engraved out-of-text compositions; a few vignettes in the text. "First work printed on a machine by the Aristide process called "découpages", printing of the wood without setting" (Carteret, III, 581). A very rare copy on chine, an edition not mentioned by Carteret, in a delightful period binding.
