La Jérusalem délivrée. Translation nouvelle et en prose par V. Philipon de la Madelaine, augmentée d'une description de Jérusalem par M. de Lamartine. Paris, J. Mallet et Cie, 1841. Large in-8, publisher's red chagrin binding, large gilt cathedral plate covering the boards with coat of arms on the first plate and military attributes on the second, long spine similarly ornamented, gilt edges. First edition. Portrait of Tasso and 21 out-of-text figures printed on chine appliqué, plus about 150 vignettes in the text, all woodcut. Copy cited by Carteret (III, 582) in a very fine publisher's binding not signed but by Boutigny, executed on a design drawn and signed by Clerget. Very fresh interior except for a slight browning of the paper with some staining on about fifty pages. From the libraries of Armand Ripault (II, 1924, n° 638) and Alexandre Roudinesco (I, 1967, n° 127), with ex-libris.
