Le Franc de Pompignan (1709-1784), lyric poet and translator, is known for his ode à la mort de Jean-Baptiste Rousseau. Elected to the French Academy in 1759 to replace Maupertuis, he gave a speech which drew the ire of Voltaire. Nice copy, library label on back cover.
