(blank), 135 & 91 pp. Soft vellum with flaps, handwritten title on spine, traces of laces (contemporary binding). Renouard, Estienne, 105:6; Adams, C-1707. Beautiful edition printed by Estienne, published with notes by Omer Talon (Audomarus Talaeus, c. 1510-1562), philosopher and professor of rhetoric in Paris. "Very well versed in learned languages and ancient literature, he taught rhetoric from 1544 until his death at the college of Cardinal Le Moine. He was honoured by the friendship of Ramus, and lent him his assistance in having the university admit the modifications that this philosopher proposed to introduce in teaching" (Hoefer). Light staining at the foot of the last five quires.
