Editio princeps of the surviving fragments of the geographical and political treatises of Dicaearchus, who had been a pupil of Aristotle, and whose Bios Hellados (Life of Greece) was the first attempt at a universal history of culture. The Greek fragments are embedded in the extensive commentary of Estienne, who has added a 120-page treatise, in dialogue form, on the customs of the ancient Athenians, as a supplement to his commentary" (Schreiber).
