Philipon de la Madelaine. Paris, Mallet et Cie, 1840. Large in-8, publisher's binding in full dark blue chagrin, boards and spine decorated with a rich gilt decoration with special irons gilt edges (Boutigny). First edition. Illustrations by Baron and Célestin Nanteuil engraved on wood by Andrew, Best and Leloir, including a portrait of Fénelon, 12 plates out of text printed on Chine collé and not captioned, and numerous vignettes in the text. A superb copy, in its publisher's binding in full chagrin decorated with special irons bearing label of Boutigny, preserved as new.
