Remarkable official publication, not put on the market, undertaken to commemorate the expedition led by the duke of Orleans, eldest son of king Louis-Philippe, in the barely conquered and not yet pacified Algeria. The printing was entrusted to the Imprimerie Royale, the illustration to masters such as Raffet, Decamps, Dauzats, the engraving to the best specialists, Lavoignat, Lavieille, Rouget... The work was intended to be offered to the members of the royal family, to the dignitaries of the Court, as well as to the officers, non-commissioned officers and soldiers who took part in the expedition. Superb nominative copy in full red chagrin of the time with rich rocaille decoration. It bears at the foot of the spine the mention : Donné par S.A.R. Mme la Duchess e d'Orléans. The name of the addressee is printed on the back of the false title : M. Delarue, colonel aide-de-camp to the minister of war. Some foxing to the serpents
