Stock, 1905. 2 works in one volume in-8, brown half-maroquin à la Bradel with corners, smooth spine, untrimmed, gilt head, covers and spine preserved, case (period binding). Reunion of two comic masterpieces by Courteline: it is enriched with preparatory autograph documents and original photographs. Final edition for Boubouroche, first published in 1893. First edition for Les Gaîtés de l'Escadron; this play was taken from the tales of the same title, published in 1886. One of 10 copies on Hollande paper, the only large paper, numbered and initialled by the publisher (n° 6). The copy is bound with: - a photographic portrait of the author (16,7 x 10,9 cm), mounted on Japan paper, with on the back this autograph signed letter: Souvenir tout particulièrement affectueux de G. Courteline to his friend Paul Chabrier June 1907; - 3 pages of the autograph manuscript of Boubouroche, beginning of the third scene of the first act, presenting some variants, 3 pages in-8 folio 17-19; - 5 sketches of scene in ink: 1 for Boubouroche, 4 for the Gaîtés de l'escadron; - 10 original photographs of scene, mounted on Japan paper: 4 for Boubouroche, 6 for the Gaîtés de l'escadron. Spine slightly faded.
