Charles CROS.
La Vision du grand canal royal des deux mers. Paris, Alphonse Lemerre, 1888. Small booklet in-8 of (8) ff., sewn, in ornamented cover printed in blue and red, modern folder and case. First edition (no deluxe edition). The text printed in blue is framed by a red net. The motives of this poem in 150 alexandrines composed by Charles Cros in the last year of his life, marked by health troubles, are unknown. "It is not improbable that a political group of the Aude, interested in the success of the plans of the new canal, asked a poet native of the country to put his inspiration and his talent at its service" (Louis Forestier). A perfect copy.
