[GIDE, André] - QUILLOT, Maurice.
Le Traité de la méduse. Dijon, Imprimerie Darantière, 1892. In-16 [167 x 110] of 40 pp. paperback, filled cover. First edition : it is dedicated to André Gide. Maurice Quillot (1870-1944) was a student of Pierre Louÿs at Janson-de-Sailly in 1888- 1889, with Marcel Drouin and Franc-Nohain. Louÿs introduced his friends to Gide and all five contributed to the journal created by Quillot called Potache-Revue. Gide became very close to Quillot and helped him financially on occasion. He dedicated to him Les Nourritures terrestres. The Traité de la méduse obviously echoes Gide's Traité du Narcisse which had appeared a few months earlier. Autograph letter signed: to Mr. Henri Michel // homage from // Maurice Quillot Spine damaged and missing, small stains on the first cover, remains of old stamps on the second cover. Scattered foxing.
