First edition. Limited edition of 409 copies : one of 388 on antique hollande (n° 98). Copy numbered and initialed by the hand of André Gide "A.W." [André Walter]. Autograph address signed on the false-title: to Jean Lorrain // in cordial homage // André Gide // "Sit Tityrus Orpheus" // Virgil (Eglog. VIII, 55) On the side, ex-dono signed by Jean Lorrain: given to Doctor Samuel Pozzi // his friend // Jean Lorrain Jean Lorrain (1855-1906) appreciated very early the literary talent of the young writer that was Gide; he was inspired by Les Nourritures terrestres in the composition of Monsieur de Phocas (1901). Jean Lorrain offered this copy to Dr. Samuel Pozzi (1846-1918). Doctor and poet, he was the father of the poetess Catherine Pozzi and a pioneer of gynecology. A very well preserved copy.
