First edition printed at 300 copies on Arches laid paper. Autograph letter signed on the title page: to Monsieur Daniel Halévy // in cordial memory // André Gide Daniel Halévy (1872-1962) and André Gide met in 1896, during a dinner at Jacques-Émile Blanche's house. He participated in the adventure of the Cahiers de la Quinzaine, cultivating a great independence of spirit, despite his political commitment. The two writers remained linked for a long time as their important correspondence testifies. Tarnished covers. First and last leaves browned.
