LEIRIS, Michel.
Le Point cardinal. Paris, Éditions du Sagittaire, [1927]. In-16 [155 x 113] with a frontispiece, 91 pp, (2) ff : havana goat, boards with fishnet decoration, smooth spine, gilt head, untrimmed, cover and spine preserved, slipcase (Leroux). First edition : it is decorated with the reproduction of a fragment of the autograph manuscript in frontispiece. A dreamlike tale in the surrealist vein, a pretext for an introspective quest for inspiration, where lapses and hallucinations collide. Important signed autograph letter: to Louis Aragon // his friend // Michel Leiris // Alexandria, April 18, 1927 Very nice provenance reuniting two companions of surrealism and of the Montmartre bohemia, before Michel Leiris (1901-1990) joined the dissidence, being one of the signatories of the pamphlet against André Breton, Un cadavre (1930). Nice copy.
