In-8 of (5) ff. 125 pp. half brown morocco with corners, spine with gilt title, gilt head, cover and spine kept (Honnelaître). First edition, published and prefaced by Ludwig Schemann. Joint: [La Fleur d'Or (La Renaissance). Exhibitions - What happened to France in 1870]. Strasbourg, Trübner, 1918. In-8 of (5) ff, 224 pp, (1) f., bradel half brown morocco, smooth spine with gilt title, gilt head, cover and spine kept (Honnelaître). First edition. A collection of two unpublished works by Gobineau, published by Ludwig Schemann as part of his Nachgelassene Schriften des Grafen Gobineau. Titles, preface and postface in German, original text of the works in French. La Fleur d'Or gathers five texts serving as prefaces to the short stories of La Renaissance (see n° 23). The historical account of the events of the 1870 war as seen by Gobineau, a text composed at the time of the events and left unfinished, is published here as it is for the first time. It will be republished with an important critical apparatus in the Etudes Gobiniennes (1970). Very rare, not quoted by Talvart.
