[SAINTE-HÉLÈNE]. ARNOTT (Archimbald) - Lot 329
[SAINTE-HÉLÈNE]. ARNOTT (Archimbald) Six lettres autographes signées, en anglais, à Hudson Lowe. Avril-mai 1821. " I visited genl Bonaparte in company with Antommarchi, I found him any weak as if he had suffered from fever. He complained a good deal of his stomach, bad appetite, frequent accesses of fever at uncertain periods followed by profuse missfunctions. " Longwood, le 3 avril 1821. 1 page 1/2 in-12, adresse. " He appeared low and drowsy but Antomacchi told me that he had passed a tolerable night. They still say that he eats nothing. Upon the whole he appeared much the same to me as Yesterday, certainly not worse. I cannot persuade him to take medicine. He still says he would take some to night but I doubt it. " Longwood, le 22 avril 1821. 1 page in-12, adresse. " I found Genl Bonaparte somewhat better than he was in the morning. He has however eaten almost nothing today and had some sickening of stomach about 4 this evening. " Longwood, le 24 avril 1821. 1 page 1/2 in-12, adresse. " I found Genl Bonaparte last evening and this morning much in the same state as he was yesterday before I saw you, not worse, nor can I perceive any inprovement. Dr Antommarchi informed me that he eat something about 7 o'clock last night and an hour afterwards he vomited it all. " Longwood, le 25 av
