Rare and very old Melas carpet (western Asia Minor), mid-19th century A collector's item! Wool velvet on wool foundation. Slight natural oxidation. Fairly good overall condition. Beautiful polychromy. Fresh colors. Rectangular central medallion inlaid with polychrome stylized hourglasses (symbol of the passage of time). Wide saffron-yellow border with lilac and brick geometric flower bulbs and buds inlaid with diamonds and stylized hourglasses. H_145 cm L_110 cm Expert : Frank Kassapian
