Very original Haouz rug from Marrakech, probably from the Ouled Bou Sbaa or Chinani tribes. Knotted with wool velvet on wool foundations. Ruby-red field decorated with a large cruciform star medallion surrounded by four stylized tarantulas. Bayadère borders with polychrome stripes and bands. Endings in kilims (tapestry technique). Mid-twentieth century. L_327 cm l_147 cm Qq oxidation and natural wear in the endings. Beautiful polychromy.
