Henri de La Tour d'Auvergne, viscount of TURENNE. 1611-1675. - Lot 236
Henri de La Tour d'Auvergne, viscount of TURENNE. 1611-1675. Marshal of France.
L.A.S. to Monsieur le Duc de Bouillon, in Langeais. Paris, April 25, 1643. 1 p. bifeuillet in-folio, address on verso, fragment of two small black wax seals. Mottling.
Letter from the great soldier to his brother, the Duc de Bouillon, then exiled to Langeais by Richelieu. He informs him of the health of King Louis XIII, who was to die a few days later. My dear brother, I don't know where this letter will find you, but I'm sending it to tell you how much better the King is feeling. Not that there is much hope of recovery. If this letter finds you without having left the country, I am of the opinion that you should stay. If it finds you on your way, it is my first advice that you stay in F*** and wait for news from here (...).
