Old YORDÈS "Elmaleh" carpet (Western Asia Minor), 1st third - Lot 114

Old YORDÈS "Elmaleh" carpet (Western Asia Minor), 1st third of the 19th century Dimensions : 190 x 120cm. Technical features : Wool velvet on wool backing. A floral composition and symbolic oil lamp sit at the center of the raspberry mihrab, highlighted by a wreath of multicolored flowers. The mihrab's crenellated ivory vaults support stylized brick plants. Two fuchsia flowered reserves at either end of the field. The whole is framed by a flamboyant floral border with "Moorish" battlements. The main border is adorned with an "Elmaleh" pastel "apple" decoration, flanked by an outer old gold border with a series of polychrome carnations (maintenance restorations).
