Jean GEOFFROY dit GEO (Marennes 1853 - Paris 1924) - Lot 29

Jean GEOFFROY dit GEO (Marennes 1853 - Paris 1924) Self-portrait of the painter in his studio, circa 1920 Oil on canvas H_40 ; W_32 cm Self-portraits are very rare in Géo's work. Only a few photographic portraits taken in his youth have survived. Here, the red ribbon worn on his jacket attests to the fact that the work was painted after his appointment to the Légion d'Honneur in 1897.
