[MUSIC]. RAMEAU (Jean-Philippe). Les Fêtes d'Hébé ou Les Tal - Lot 7
[MUSIC]. RAMEAU (Jean-Philippe). Les Fêtes d'Hébé ou Les Talents Liriques. Ballet [...]. Dedicated to S.A.S. Madame La Duchesse Douairiere [...]. Paris, Chez l'Auteur, ruë des Bons-Enfans, à l'Hôtel d'Effiat ; la Veuve Boivin, ruë S. Honoré, à la Régle d'Or ; M. Le Clair, ruë du Roule, à la Croix d'Or, s. d. [1739]. Oblong folio, calf, decorated spine (period binding). Musical score including 1 f of title, 1 f of dedication and characters of the Ballet, followed by 181 pages of engraved music. Complete with the addition "Deuxième entrée nouvelle" of 11 pages, numbered 97 to 107. The price in the title "en blanc, 12. liv. & 14. liv. relié" has been corrected by hand to "13 et 15 livres". Composed by Jean-Philippe Rameau to a libretto by Antoine-César Gautier de Montdorge, this opera-ballet was performed "for the first time, by the Académie Royale de Musique, in the month of May 1739". It is Rameau's second opera after Les Indes galantes, premiered in 1735. The binding has suffered from damp, causing numerous protrusions of the quires and lack of leather on the spine; the leaf on pages 180-181 has become detached following the addition of the supplement; the last endpaper is missing; some soiling; minor wetness, but the interior is very suitable.
