[LOUVRE - Family of Count Des Salles]. 40 letters and documents (1753-1776). Correspondence concerning the preservation and renovation of an apartment in the former Louvre palace, on the first floor overlooking the Infant gardens, for the benefit of Count Des Salles. This apartment, located near the Queen's grand apartments, had been granted during the Regency to Madame de La Lande, Dame d'Honneur of the Dauphine and Sous-Gouvernante des Enfants de France, and then by survivorship confirmed by the King, to Monique Gouy d'Arsy, wife in 1769 of Count Des Salles. In a letter, Madame de Montalembert was informed of major works above the apartments (incessant movement of workers, scaffolding, etc.), an event that led her to fear that all the apartments in the wing would be given up in favor of the royal library project. In 1774, several approaches were made to Abbé Terray, Louis XV's Minister of Finance, and the Duc de Brancas, then to the Maréchal de Broglie and the Comte de Saint-Germain under Louis XVI in 1775, to obtain another apartment (in the Tuileries or even the Palais de Luxembourg), or compensation for the loss suffered.
